Candidate Canvass: Paul Richardson – Independent Candidate for Narre Warren North
Paul Richardson: Independent Candidate for Narre Warren North
What would be the single most pressing issue in your electorate?
Though I consider all issues as public transport, housing, homelessness and the removal of the Local Government Structure and all 79 Municipal councils a priority, one serious and major issue is the Brookland Greens Estate Methane Gas Leak and the intentions of the Brumby ALP State Government and Luke Donnellan MP.
What would you hope to contribute to Victoria as a parliamentarian?
I hope to achieve all the issues on my brochure and other issues i.e. public transport, state hospitals, State Education, State Planning Issues as the C48/C51 Planning Amendment and the GAIC UGB Land Tax and make the State Government totally accountable, visible and transparent in all their actions and parliamentary decisions, including their state Legislations. I acknowledge this is a broad answer to this question.
Do you believe in anthropogenic climate change and should we act on it?
As an environmentalist and Independent State Candidate I support climate change and question the action of past state governments and companies in affecting the global environment. As an Indigenous Australian of the Victorian Gunditjmara Tribe in the Western District and Victorian/Casey Ratepayer, there is a saying that the land is our mother and if we destroy the land and the environment it will destroy us. Therefore we as People, we have a responsibility to look after the environment, our backyards, our forests and our water ways for the future of the human race now and into the future.
We should be acting and looking after the environment (since we all have only one planet to call home) all the time and improving the worldly environment around us. Yes we need to act now!
What are your thoughts on Victoria’s water security?
We as the People of this Planet Earth have a total responsibility to manage and care for our water ways and water supplies just as we must for the air we breathe.
I cannot support the Desalination Plant in its current form.
Do you support gay marriage?
I do not support gay marriages, abortion nor do I support euthanasia. As a Christian, it is against God’s law. Marriage under God’s Law must be between men and women, not men and men and women and women. It is bad enough to see men kiss each other and hold hands, similarly seeing women doing the same. What messages does this send to our children and the social patterns/interactions in our daily lives?
What do you feel has been your greatest achievement in life (family not included)?
One of my achievements has been a Casey Councillor for the Four Oaks Ward from 2005 to 2008, in which I have been able to work side by side with the Casey Community Members and represent their interests and concerns in Council. I still work with the Local Community Members as an Ex Casey Councillor and continually attend Casey Council Meetings as a Casey Community Watchdog.

Not sure if it matters now,I hope in the future those who agree with Paul’s views give him the opportunity to deliver as he puts all in when ever he can.Paul’s greatest achievement?Politician!
