This is an exercise in bringing candidates to the people.
The idea is that a standard set of questions are asked of local candidates, with the answers posted here along with a brief biography. This gives a glimpse of the people voters must choose between come the 21st of August.
This exercise cannot succeed without your help however, we need you to help ask the questions whether through email, Twitter, Facebook, in person, or any other media. The easiest way would be to copy and paste or provide a link to this post – please post any candidates you contact in the comments section so we can keep track. The more candidates we can get involved, the better. So we hope you will join in.
These are the questions suggested, and there are no length requirements for answers:
How long have you lived in your electorate?
What would be the single most pressing issue in your electorate/state?
What would you hope to achieve for your electorate in the coming term?
What would you hope to contribute to Australia as a parliamentarian?
Do you believe in anthropogenic climate change and should we act on it?
What is your position on asylum seekers?
Do you think filtering the Internet is a viable way of protecting the vulnerable online?
What is your view on cabinet confidentiality?
Do you support gay marriage?
What do you feel has been your greatest achievement in life (family not included)?
